For 17 years Calvin College has taken an Interim class to Mérida, Yucatán, Mexico. The main purpose for this class is to help the students improve their language skills and along the way improve their cultural understanding of this small part of Mexico. The students stay with families who speak no English, sleep in hammocks, go to lectures and have cultural discussions, and visit the Maya archaeological sites. This blog will give you an idea of our experiences.

Some of us went to a mission church that meets in the front of the house of one of the members. It is a very friendly, happy group. Old and new<: a lamp post downtown hung with speakers. In front of city hall.
